Life Lessons from Cinderella

Sometimes the best way to learn life lessons is through experience.

Considering that Cinderella somehow managed to fit a lifetime's worth of experiences, and then some, into less than two hours (whew, talk about a busy girl) who better to share some advice?

Funny Somewhat Topical Ecard: Shoes can change your life, just ask Cinderella.

Life Lesson #1 - Look for your luck in unexpected places.

Sometimes people give up too easily. They aren't successful following conventional routes, so they assume that they aren't destined for success. That isn't necessarily true! Just work hard, keep your eyes open, and you might find your fairy godmother (read: an awesome opportunity) when you least expect it!

Life Lesson #2 - Don't be too hasty to write someone off.

Just because someone dresses oddly or stutters or happens to be a mouse doesn't mean that they can't make a great friend. Where would Cinderella be now if she didn't ignore that species thing and befriend a bunch of friendly vermin? Still scrubbing the floors with a toothbrush, that's where!

Oh, wait. I think I'm confusing her for Annie. But you get the point.

Life Lesson #3 - Be punctual.

If you say you'll meet your friends at the pumpkin-carriage at midnight, meet your friends at the pumpkin carriage at midnight. It really isn't that hard to be punctual, but it shows respect for those you've made the appointment with and increases the likelihood that they'll want to work with you in the future.

Life Lesson #4 - Bloopers aren't the end of the world.

Sometimes mistakes, like losing a priceless magic glass slipper (Louboutin would cringe, I'm sure), can end up in your favor.

It worked out pretty well for Cinderella - one glass slipper in exchange for one prince and a royal title? Not bad!

That said, especially for the college-age princesses-in-training: don't make a habit of being a hot mess. Even Cinderella could only get away with doing it now and then.

Life Lesson #5 - Don't hold grudges.

Instead of using her newfound power to throw her wicked stepsisters and stepmother into a dungeon, or to behead them a la the Queen of Hearts, Cinderella forgives them. And guess what? She still lives happily ever after!

Revenge doesn't make you happier in the long-run, it can even hurt you. And why should you ever hurt anyone else on purpose? It's not a good idea and it isn't good for you or for them.

Okay, that last picture wasn't super relevant. But hilarious, no? Do you think they chose their outfits like that on purpose?

What did you learn from Cinderella?

Which Disney Princess is your favorite?

When was the last time you watched a Disney movie?
