Back to the Wild and a Charmingly Rustic Giveaway!

If you've been reading LLE for a while (thanks, by the way, if you have) you may remember Wilderness Poets from my review of their Raw Wild Mix this past summer.

In addition to snacks, Wilderness Poets also makes raw nut and seed butters.

The nut butter connoisseur that I am, I obviously had to try their raw almond butter.

True to the company mission, it's as pure and simple as you can get with an almond butter - just group up organic almonds with nothing else.

No sugar, no salt, no gluten, no soy, no filler oils, no GMO's, no trans fats, and no cholesterol.

But do nut butters need that extra stuff to taste good? Does adding that 'unhealthy' stuff make them yummier?

FALSE.

The texture of this is amazing and, if you store it in the refrigerator (as recommended), there isn't even very much oil separation. Less oil separation = less mess = HAPPY GIRL.

It's creamy, but with texture (as you can see) and you feel like you're eating ground almonds. Oh, right - because you are. :) The flavor has all nutty, buttery almond with a touch of natural sweetness from the nut itself.

When the nuts are processed so carefully and gently as in this raw nut butter, it allows all of the little nuances of their natural flavor to shine and you end up realizing that almonds have even more flavors than you would realize from eating a bag of smoked almonds or a jar of the Blue Diamond almond butter.

Since it's so flavorful, a little goes a long way - so I think that the cost difference of just a few dollars (this jar is $13 at their online store) between this and your standard supermarket almond butter is worth it.

Also, this would make one kick*censored* stocking stuffer.

Hint, hint! Actually, never mind - my parents don't read this. But if you're the one responsible for the stocking stuffing, think about it! Maybe whomever you gave the almond butter to would be so grateful that they'd share some with you on Christmas morning?

One can always hope.

Anyway, since it is the 25 Days of Giveaways and another day means another giveaway, how about a stocking?

And not just any stocking - a super awesome gorgeous handmade stocking?

My sister and I used to fight over who had the prettier (and, ahem, larger) stocking. Just in case you're equally interested in having a lovely stocking hanging on your mantlepiece, enter to win a $45 homemade Christmas stocking of your choice from the The Stockings Were Hung!

I really like this Christmas Treats stocking:
Christmas Treats Stocking

They're approximately 20 inches long by 13 inches wide, with a ribbon for hanging and real jingle bells for jingling while you root around for your treats on Christmas morning!

Here's the story of The Stockings Were Hung, courtesy of the crafter Mary:

Twelve years ago I designed these stockings for my  family.  I had each person, including grandkids, choose their fabric.  We ended up with quite a collection; all different yet oddly complimentary. As a few more grandchildren arrived more stockings were added.  Over the years I made a few more for friends.  Everyone who saw them suggested I offer them for sale, so 3 years ago I opened my Etsy shop.

Last year I had the pleasure of working with a mother to design a special stocking for a baby she lost at birth using fabric that matched her daughters layette.  She plans to hang it each year in rememberance.

With the cost of fabric being what it is, I constantly strive to keep the cost within the limits of most people's budgets.  They are labor intensive...thus each is a labor of love.  Each year I have had special requests so there is an "odd" selection of themes offered.

I love special orders; letting the client design their stockings both in style and fabric.  Although my shop has mostly "jester" stockings I have other designs available and can create any design you may want,  I would love the opportunity to work with you personally to design and produce your individual stockings or would welcome a purchase from what is already complete.
