Multi-Generational Holiday Activities!

Happy Thanksgiving!

For many of you, this may be the official start to your holiday season.

You know me, I started celebrating ages ago.

Anyway, for those of you who start the celebrations today, you might be welcoming aunts, uncles, grandparents, children, grandchildren, great grandparents (!), etc. into your home for Thanksgiving dinner this evening. The holidays are great for bringing families together, but it can also be a bit trying to try to bridge the generations with activities that everyone enjoys. After all, you don't just want to send everyone home right after pie!

So that you have something to do together after dinner (or before), here are some fun multi-generational activities to try with your families today!

A talent show.
You can compete individually or (even better!) in groups. Everyone can have just about thirty minutes to an hour or so to prepare, then you can all gather in the living room to watch each others's performances!

Coming up with a theme for the show can make it even more fun, as can randomizing groups by having people choose performance partners out of a hat.

Up the stakes by competing over a little prize - like who gets to take the pie leftovers (if there any!) home or (if it's before dinner) who gets the drumstick!

Flag football.
I'm not sure if I've ever played this game personally, but it's an American tradition for a reason! Not only can everyone bond over team strategizing (and get out those holiday tensions by shoving each other to the ground) but you can also work up a good appetite for that Thanksgiving dinner. And even the little ones will be pooped enough afterwards to sit still through dinner!

If you have prissier ones among you, or more fragile older family members, they can either be referees or cheerleaders. If there are enough, you can even put together a fun little cheer squad with face paint and everything. U-G-L-Y, you ain't got no --!

Wait, that's probably not a very good sportsmanship-y cheer...

 After-dinner games.
Boardgames (like Monopoly or Scrabble!), Charades, and Pictionary are all good bets! This can be a great way to wrap up your evening :)

Well, before I let you head off to start prepping that dinner (when I first moved to the States, I was really impressed by the idea of a meal that one started prepping in the morning to eat at night - I just didn't have the patience, I wanted my food pronto!) let's get in a little taste of Christmas.

The 25 Days of Giveaways continue!

I know a lot of gluten-free people (do I know a disproportionate amount, or are there just a lot of people out there with gluten issues?). From my diva friends who just think that they feel better without gluten, to classmates with inflammation issues that are triggered by gluten, to a childhood best bud with Celiac's disease, whenever I'm entertaining I just have to have a gluten-free option on hand!

In case you're the same (or even if you're not, but you love chocolate as much as I do) today's giveaway is for the gluten-free chocoholic!

Speaking of healthy chocolate treats, have you tried the new Quest Cravings treats yet? I reviewed their prototype peanut butter cups, which were already super delicious (though they didn't hold together like normal peanut butter cups and the peanut butter filling was a bit dry). The finished product is now on the market, though, and I couldn't wait to try it!

As you can see, the chocolate in this one just looks like the usual chocolate peanut butter cups (Reese's or Justin's style) and the top is smooth. There are still two per pack and these pop out of the little cups really easily!

They don't crumble apart at all, you really have to snap them like with the conventional candy ones. And the peanut butter filling isn't powdery at all! It's all smooth, creamy, and delicious.

The flavors are just as delicious and crave-worthy as in the prototype, but the textures are so much better. Way to go, Quest! These are my new favorite Quest product.
