Ever since I started reading blogs a year and some months ago, I've noticed that a LOT of bloggers have one thing in common: a little button on their sidebar proclaiming that said blogger is a Love Grown blogger.
For a while, I thought it was something about being part of a loving blogging community. Eventually, I realized it meant that the blogger in question loved Love Grown Granola. Still, about another year passed before I decided that I needed to see what all the fuss was about.
Love Grown kindly sent me some of their granolas to review! From the get-go, the flavors sounded pretty awesome - cocoa goodness, raisin almond crunch, sweet cranberry pecan, apple walnut delight, and simply oats - and I liked that they both had individual packs, perfect for on-the-go snackage, and big bags for more environmentally-friendly at-home eating.
I also couldn't help but notice that they looked a lot different than most of the granolas that I've had - do you see those big white flakes?
Yup, those are big chunks of coconut in every flavor of granola!
In addition to having cool flavors, they use natural sweeteners and no food coloring. They're packed with good stuff, like certified gluten-free oats and milled flaxseed, and free of not-so-good stuff, like hydrogenated oils and artificial flavors!
Though I was uncertain of how the big coconut bits would work in each flavor, they actually really helped draw out the flavors in each granola and made each one even more delicious (and I'm not even a coconut fanatic)!
Here's a quick rundown of the flavors:
Simply Oats- This one is perfect for when you want a base granola to add your own dried fruits, nuts, seeds, chocolate, etc. to. It's also great as an ice cream or froyo topper as it's crunchy, sweet, and satisfying without having too many competing flavors of its own.
Raisin Almond Crunch - This one is perfect as the 'standard' granola to go to as your usual, if you still want something with a little more excitement than the Simply Oats.
The addition of the almonds in this granola takes it one step above and beyond your usual granola with raisins.
And they're generous with the almonds, raisins, and coconut flakes!
Crunchy, crunchy awesomeness - perfect with a chopped banana in milk :)
It's also amazing with vanilla greek yogurt, like a homemade oatmeal raisin cookie in a bowl.
Apple Walnut Delight - Walnuts + Granola = LOVE. It's such a fantastic combo and though I was a little wary of apple granola (I've never had that flavor combo before) it worked really well. Think apple pie!
Cocoa Goodness - Chocolaty delight! I didn't realize that this is chockfull of chocolate chunks, but IT IS.
This is the perfect dessert granola - either on ice cream or even just on a bowlful of greek yogurt!
Oooh, I need to try this on chocolate Chobani.
Now that would be amazing.
Sweet Cranberry Pecan - THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE. Yes, yes, yes. I'm partial to cranberry anyway, and to pecan (pecan pie, anyone? Anyway, I'm from NC y'all). I can't even describe this in a way that would convey its AMAZING DELICIOUSNESS, so you're just going to have to try it yourself.
Do itttttttt.
Oh, and (as always) this is not sponsored by Love Grown. I'm not getting paid for this review, I don't profit if you buy their granola, and the granola mafia isn't going to track me down if I don't write nice things.
Love Grown Granola is just plain awesome. That's all.
